Energy Drinks Are Killing You?
You've seen them in stores, you've probably tried a few yourselves but if you REALLY knew what was in those so called "Energy Drinks" you would stop drinking them immediately!
Many people mistakenly believe that energy drinks are as good for them as oxygen water. Sadly, this isn’t the case at all. Obviously energy drinks don’t have any health benefits, that’s a given, but they actually aren’t all that effective at giving extra energy either. As a matter of fact, they may be killing you!
The reason why oxygen water is so much better for the body than energy drinks is because of the ingredients in each energy drink which is actually bad for your body.
With oxygen water, the body is only given what it needs – oxygen and water. However, with energy drinks the body is given a lot of other ingredients that actually draw away from the desired effect.
For example, there is a lot of sugar in almost all energy drinks. This sugar will cause a quick burst of energy, but that burst will only last for a short while. Then the person is left feeling tired when the initial sugar rush passes. This is commonly referred to as “crashing”.
Also, all the other ingredients in the energy drink have to go through the digestive process. Any time there is anything in the body that is being digested; energy has to be taken from the rest of the body in order for the digestive process to take place.
Obviously if energy is taken from the rest of the body in order for digestion to occur then it isn’t available for the person to use when exercising. (As a quick aside, this is why many people feel tired after eating – their energy has been taken from the rest of the body to aid in digestion.)
So the energy that is needed to power digestion, coupled with the sugar crash, actually leaves the person (or athlete) with less energy than the person had before the drink.

Some doctors are concluding that drinking too many energy drinks may eventually cause heart problems because of the amount of boost the heart gets from the excessive usage of them.
With the energy drinks on the market today reaching levels of 360mg of caffeine there's no wonder many energy drinks like Red Bull have been banned in countries when there have been cases of teenagers drinking an energy drink before a basketball game and then later dying from heart failure.
Physical and mental effects come from drinking energy drinks in excess, like insomnia, anxiety, and sometimes muscle twitching have been seen in adults who drink too many. In the local bar scene energy drinks are used as a mixer with alcohol and this is very bad for the body because alcohol is a downer whereas a energy drink is designed to perk you up, so having conflicting beverages causes one to think you need more to drink as well as causing dehydration which is caused by both alcohol and energy drinks.

Every energy drink has carbonated water which is bad for you. Why? Because it takes carbon dioxide into the stomach and the stomach has to get rid of carbon dioxide which acts as an acid. If you are an athlete you want oxygen in your stomach.
